☀️ The sun’s out… but so is the fire risk.
We all love making the most of the good weather, but it only takes one spark to turn a patch of dry grass into a major incident.
🚨 Dry grass, heathland and woodland can catch fire incredibly quickly. What starts as a small flame can spread in minutes, putting people, wildlife, homes and emergency services at risk.
A few things to remember:
🔥 Please don’t use disposable BBQs on grass, in parks, open countryside or beauty spots - even if they look cool, they can stay hot for hours and easily start a fire. 🚬 Don’t throw cigarette ends out of car windows or onto the ground. One careless flick can have serious consequences. 🚗 Don’t park on dry grass - Hot exhausts and catalytic converters can be enough to ignite vegetation underneath your vehicle. 🗑️ Take your litter home. Glass bottles can concentrate sunlight, and rubbish can become fuel if a fire starts.
👀 If you spot a fire:
👮 If you see anyone deliberately setting fires or acting suspiciously, report it to Staffordshire Police via 101 or www.staffordshire.police.uk
If it’s happening there and then, or lives are at risk, always call 999.
Remember… the only thing that should be sizzling this weekend is your playlist—not the countryside. 🎵🌿
Let’s all do our bit to keep Staffordshire safe and protect our green spaces for everyone to enjoy. | ||
